On 29 August 1986, sixteen year old schoolboy Steven Meesenger vanished without a trace from the isolated Midway Roadhouse on the central Western Australian coast.

Four months previoustly, Messenger had attracted national media attention when he accidentally discovered certain relics from a seventeenth-century shipwreck. Among his macabre discoveries was mummified human hand.

Strange Objects is the first publication of the ‘Meesenger Documents’, an extraordinary collection of articles, clipping and fantastic personal commentary, believed to have been compiled by Messenger himself. Almost five days after boy was last seen alive, these documents were mailed by persons unknown to the Institute of Maritime Archaelogy in Perth Australia
